QYI #1 - Community Art Installations
We were looking for companies, agencies, businesses, or land owners with public-facing space that they would be willing to commit to an art installation that furthers the conversation on human rights, equity, inclusion, mental health, and/or the needs of our community. We sought entities that can donate services, space, or supplies to the installation and preservation of these art works. Unfortunately, we were not able to connect sites and artists for successful installations this time around. However, we were able to engage 23 unique youth at least one time and up to four times in learning about art making, community building, and public art installation.
Submission window has passed as this Initiative is now closed.
Hope Development Practice was selected along with 12 other agencies in Washington state as recipients of the Pride Foundation's LGBTQ Youth Initiative grant!
We used these funds to promote young leaders in the LGBTQIA2+ community, assist them in skill and experience development, and further the conversation on social and health issues relevant to our mission to bring safer communities to Washington through healing. We have designed two Queer Youth Initiatives (QYI) thus far.
Queer Youth Initiative #1 - Community Art Installations - This initiative aimed to further the conversation on human rights, equity, inclusion, mental health, and raising awareness around the needs of the LGBTQ communities. Youth were recruited and engaged in community and learned about creating, selecting, installing art as well as recruiting, advertising, and negotiating with local businesses for the installation spaces.
