QYI #1 - Community Art Installations
Submission window has closed.
Unfortunately, we were not able to connect sites and artists for successful installations this time around. However, we were able to engage 23 unique youth at least one time and up to four times in learning about art making, community building, and public art installation.
Hope Development Practice was selected along with 12 other agencies in Washington state as recipients of the Pride Foundation's LGBTQ Youth Initiative grant!
We are using these funds to promote young leaders in the LGBTQIA2+ community, assist them in skill and experience development, and further the conversation on social and health issues relevant to our mission to bring safer communities to Washington through healing. We have designed two Queer Youth Initiatives (QYI) thus far, and are seeking participants from the community for these.
Queer Youth Initiative #1 - Community Art Installations - This initiative aims to further the conversation on human rights, equity, inclusion, mental health, and raising awareness around the needs of the LGBTQ communities. Youth will be involved in creating, selecting, installing art as well as recruiting, advertising, and negotiating with local businesses for the installation spaces.
Here are some examples of art installations by Queer artists.
The possibilities are endless and there is no one way to make art or be exactly you.
