Art has pushed the envelope in social and cultural conversation for as long as humans could make art and/or carry out a conversation. The Queer community has had a very strong presence in the art world from the start. Many great creators and artists not only identified as a member of the Alphabet community, but that they also used their art to bring the human side to the issues faced by our community. It is our hope in this youth initiative to connect our communities to the real human issues faced everyday by the LGBTQIA2+ community. This initiative gives business owners and young artists the opportunity to contribute to social progress. This page serves to provide the first glimmers of ideas for grasping the possibilities in this initiative. Whether designing something small for a small space, or something massive for a large space, we are extending this opportunity to bring the community together through art. The possibilities are endless and we are so very excited to offer this opportunity!
We engaged 23 unique youth in community, art making, and lessons on how to get their art publicly installed!
What were our Art Sessions?
We provided a canvas, paint, and art supplies for completing a guided and intentional art work about your experience or in response to that month's theme. Youth took their artwork home.
Youth also had the opportunity to contribute to designing a public mural. Unfortunately, we were not able to make a public mural installation happen.
