Our Office

Our Puyallup office is located just off of the Puyallup River. Clients are welcomed to enjoy the nature trail before and after, or sometimes even during a therapy session. We are located in the big blue glass medical office buildings on Main street. We are located on the bottom floor of the building just to the left of the double doors facing the river. Both the main building and our office doors are equipped with an ADA access button and there is an elevator to bring clients down from the upper floors, should they choose to park in the front parking lot.

Inside, our clients are welcomed into our lobby with the sign created by our community at our first Plateau Pride event in 2022. Clients were invited to paint their hands with colors they identify with and add their mark to our community of family. Beneath this sign, we offer complimentary coffee, tea, cider, cocoa, or water to all of our clients while they wait or during sessions.

We provide 8 therapy rooms ranging from our group room with soft poufs and stuffies, to rooms filled with toys for children, more formal therapy rooms, to rooms with sinks and art supplies. Our rooms are named after traits contributing to client success. There are sound machines located near the door of each office to help protect client confidentiality. We selected body inclusive furniture for each room and the main lobby so all of our clients can feel accepted and affirmed for who they are as they are.

Clinical Supervision Services

We currently have two Clinical Supervisors at Hope Development Practice (HDP) that oversee all internal therapists and their client work. We work as a team to consult and process our work with clients from session start, to billing, to in depth case analysis. Clients at HDP benefit from at least two layers of clinical support up to four layers of clinical support for clients seen by one or more of our student therapists.

We pride ourselves on helping young professionals grow and blossom into the therapists they wish to be. Whether starting with us as a practicum participant, intern therapist, or Associate level therapist, we believe your career is what you make it. Our therapists look at their own relationship with business, community work, and private practice. We empower our supervisees to build a balance between all of this that works for them and the career they want.

Developing Hope

Developing Hope (DH) is a 2hr bi-weekly Associate Therapist Group Supervision model introducing new therapists to all of the layers and complexities of mental health care in the US health care system. We use a 6:1 supervisee/supervisor or lower ratio to keep in compliance with WA state law and national standards for supervision hours toward licensure.

We explore different approaches and business models in therapy. We look at the math and logic behind these decisions that are made individually for every clinician. We empower participants to make their own path from concept to business plan, tracking, and documentation.

This is NOT primary supervision, but rather secondary supervision only. The focus is to join together in navigating the pieces of mental health care that weren't covered in graduate programs. There is some time in each session for case consultation, but the first hour covers new material and discussion.

The second hour is application focused and following up on previous lessons. This is usually where there is space for one or two de-identified case consults. Primary treatment consultation will need to go to a primary supervisor outside of the DH program.

We are actively enrolling new Associates for the next cohort starting in November.

We are also looking for specialized speakers. See below.

We are looking for professionals willing to come speak to the current supervisee cohort in Developing Hope.

Participants pay $80/ 2hr session that is divided between MaKael and Hope Development Practice. Sharing this for transparency and to provide scope on any pay negotiations.

Reach out if you have any of the following expertise pieces and are willing to make a little money talking to Associate level therapists on the topic.

We are looking for about 30min of content with 10min of Q&A ish.
