Hi, I’m Syd! My path to becoming a therapist has been shaped by my lived experience as a client and patient. I was born and raised in Southern California in a military family, and as I grew up, I helped care for my mom who lives with MS. These early experiences sparked my passion for disability justice, grief work, family systems, and mental health advocacy. Discovering I’m neurodivergent later in life deepened my self-understanding—and fuels my compassion for those navigating systems not built with us in mind.
Art has been central in my own healing, and I may offer it as a tool for self-expression in our work. You don’t need to consider yourself an artist—just open to exploring creativity, metaphor, and meaning in a supportive space.
As a relational therapist, I view healing as something that happens in connection. Therapy becomes a space to reconnect with yourself and others, and learn to feel safe and authentic in relationships. Whether we’re addressing personal challenges or generational patterns, we’ll move at your pace—guided by trust, safety, and collaboration.
I bring a trauma-informed, relational, and identity-affirming lens to my work, honoring the many truths each person carries. My approach integrates narrative therapy, internal family systems (parts work), attachment theory, art therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and more. I also honor spiritual practices that may be outside the dominant western norm, such as tarot and oracle cards, ancestral work, or astrology.
I support clients navigating trauma and complex trauma, grief, ADHD, autism, chronic illness and disability, depression, anxiety, gender and sexual identity, body image, self-worth, and relational challenges.
Outside the therapy room, I love painting, writing, music, coffee (retired barista!), spending time with my cats, and talking philosophy with my partner. I’m currently earning my Master’s in Couples and Family Therapy with a certificate in Art Therapy at Antioch University Seattle.
