Community Art Installation(s)

Art has pushed the envelope in social and cultural conversation for as long as humans could make art and/or carry out a conversation. The Queer community has had a very strong presence in the art world from the start. Many great creators and artists not only identified as a member of the Alphabet community, but that they also used their art to bring the human side to the issues faced by our community. It is our hope in this youth initiative to connect our communities to the real human issues faced everyday by the LGBTQIA2+ community. This initiative gives business owners and young artists the opportunity to contribute to social progress. This page serves to provide the first glimmers of ideas for grasping the possibilities in this initiative. Whether designing something small for a small space, or something massive for a large space, we are extending this opportunity to bring the community together through art. The possibilities are endless and we are so very excited to offer this opportunity!

Design Submission Deadline: June 30, 2025

Stay tuned as we MIGHT be adding two more sessions in May and June!!

Are you coming to our Art Session on April 26th at OASIS?

We will provide a canvas, paint, and art supplies for completing a guided and intentional art work about your experience or in response to this month's theme: Queer Love.

You can take your artwork home or decide to contribute it to the Community Art Queer Youth Initiative efforts. Either way, we hope to see you there so we can make art together!

Youth will also have the opportunity to contribute to designing a public mural to be installed closer to the end of 2025. The exact installation site is not yet determined.

We have had some interest from businesses and agencies with a public facing space, but we can always take more interested parties. If you know a person or agency that would host a canvas, mural, or other art work, have them fill out the interest form above!

Tell us what snack you would like us to bring by commenting on our Facebook page!

Please note: This event location has a few restrictions for age range (14-24) and participation. Youth will need to complete an intake conversation with a staff at the center before being able to participate in this month's Art Session. This takes about 45 min and can potentially be completed befoer the event if you arrive at 4 when the drop in opens. It is also a wonderful opportunity to visit their drop in another day in advance to see what OASIS is all about. We are absolutely THRILLED to be partnering with them for this month's Art Session!!

Check out more about OASIS on their website! https://www.oasisyouthcenter.org/
