I am currently a student in the clinical mental health counseling program at Antioch University Seattle.
I have always had a passion for people, but for years, I felt too “broken” to be able to help others. However, through my own mental health and recovery journey, I realized that my “brokenness” fostered a deeper level of empathy in me. I am drawn to counseling by a heartfelt desire to help others in their healing. Through my counseling education, I have learned that my perception of “brokenness” came from internalized oppression I held based on societal expectations and stigmas. While I am still learning as a counselor, I work with others in a way that I hope will empower them.
I work through a humanistic and intersectional feminist lens, practicing integrative therapy for individuals of all, if any, gender identities. I believe counseling is defined by the relationship built between counselor and client and the mutual effort of utilizing different therapeutic techniques for the client to calibrate, grow, and meet goals. I strive to provide a compassionate, safe space for clients to explore their individuality, struggles and aspirations. I also believe in recognizing how relationships, community, and society affect a person both externally and internally. By getting the whole picture, clients and I can work together to identify opportunities for healing and liberation.
