Julian Rice, Clinical Mental Health Art Therapy Intern

He/They

I am currently a master’s student, studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Art Therapy. My undergraduate degree is in Fine Arts, which has given me familiarity with many materials and approaches to art-making. I have an intersectional social justice oriented approach to therapy that is centered on liberation and empowerment. For me, this begins with embracing multimodal communication in the therapy room, where I see art-making not just as a tool for client processing, but as a means for enriching communication. In my practice I integrate art therapy with somatic theory, gaming, and pop culture in a strengths-based approach that centers client goals and interests. My passion is for neurodiversity-centered mental health care for autistic and ADHD clients, but I enjoy working with clients from a variety of backgrounds.
